We want to include a special note regarding our web team at Triple i Web Solutions who took a complicated idea and system and made it a fun process with their commitment and positive attitude. Lunch Money Week 2011 Highlights:
TO DATE YOU HAVE RAISED JUST OVER $4000.
There was over 40 participating businesses & organizations.
Our Top Contributor was the Honda Way who matched their staff donations.
On September 17th the Abbotsford Food Bank had the honor of being participant and beneficiary of the first ever BC Thanksgiving Food Drive. After having tremendous success in Edmonton & Calgary, the Church of Jesus Christ & Latter Day Saints decided to put their hands & heart to raising food, funds & awareness for Food Banks across the entire province of British Columbia. Drawing in local businesses and other faith groups for a strong and united effort, we were blown away as they and our many generous members of our city joined us in our mission to nurture family & cultivate community through our supplemental food hampers and other supportive programs.
Our first ever soccer camp was a huge success! Athlete's in Action provided their top notch coaching and life skills soccer camp. There were a few shared tears on the last day- wish it could have went longer! There are some pretty amazing kids out there. Thanks so much to Northview Church for subsidizing camp costs, all the volunteers, the city of Abbotsford for providing tents, Thrifty Foods for providing healthy snacks, and everyone who worked hard behind the scenes to make this happen.
Thanks to everyone who participated in Lunch Money Day, part of your money raised helped equip over 200 kids with back-packs and other school supplies.
The need at the Food Bank doesn't decrease over the summer months, in fact it's actually the opposite.
The Food Bank in partnership with Athletes in Action, Northview Church, and the City of Abbotsford is hosting a summer soccer camp Aug. 1st - 5th for kids who might not otherwise get to participate in a sports camp.
We are excited to announce the launch of our new website. Please feel free to peruse the site.
