Removing Barriers to Food Security

Feeding people is our priority, and that’s why we’re all about removing barriers to food security. Inadequate transportation and limited hours of operation can be barriers. With the help of our community partners, we’re working hard to eliminate these barriers. By distributing food and supplies through other organizations and charities throughout the community of Abbotsford, we’re able to bring life’s essentials closer to those who need them most. These community partner distribution points are called “Food Bank Satellites.”

Since opening Food Bank Satellites in 2017 many program partners are finding that when basic needs are being met, the program participation increase and trust is built with the service group. The outcome is the enriched lives.

Two Types of Satellites

Neighbourhood Satellites offer alternative hours and proximity benefits for those needing food.

Program Satellites make food hampers available to those who need it within an existing program, hosted at the program site.
