While many will gather with loved ones around a special holiday meal, many of our neighbours are doing everything they can to simply provide the basics for their families. 🩸 Menstrual equity is a basic necessity, not a luxury. In the past, pads, tampons, and menstrual cups were some of the items we were always in need of. Today, with support from the Menstrual Equity Fund, led by Food Banks Canada and supported by Women and Gender Equity Canada, we can ensure that people in our community don’t have to choose between menstrual products and other necessities. Period poverty affects millions of people, creating barriers to health, dignity, and participation in everyday life. When someone doesn’t have access to safe and hygienic menstrual products, they may be forced to rely on unsafe alternatives.
